The idea behind this book is to provide a range of short activities that require little or no preparation to deal with the situations outlined above. These activities can be used at the start of a lesson as warm-up activities to settle the children into their lesson and to switch them onto English. Alternatively, they can be used at the end of the lesson to fill an unexpected five or ten minutes when another activity has run short, or maybe it has run long, not leaving enough time to do whatever else was planned.
